An Updated Greek National Checklist of Chondrichthyans

Accurate checklists of species are essential for evaluating their conservation status and understanding more about distribution, biology ecology and, therefore, the first step in order to effectively protect them. According existing literature, Greek seas rich chondrichthyan biodiversity herein, we update most recent checklist country regarding that present waters, correct unvalidated miscellaneous sightings observations provide guidelines future research improve conservation. In total, 330 sources were collected from which 276 used further analysis, resulting 1485 records 67 species, among 61 confirmed by experts, including 34 sharks, 26 batoids one chimaera. We listing six as “Questionable/Not Confirmed”.
